Manastırlar (Monastery) Valley

It is one of the least known but virgin and attractive trekking racecourses of Cappadocia. The valley, located southwest of Güzelyurt town of Aksaray city, lies between Sivrihisar Village and Güzelyurt.  Manastırlar (Monastery) Valley, 22 Km far away from Ihlara Valley is a small copy of Ihlara Valley. Through the valley, there is a tiny brook called Manastır. In order to start the trekking you need to reach Sivrihisar Village 6 Km southwest of Güzelyurt. Manastırlar (Monastery) Valley route can be taken as long or short one.

The short one starts as you enter the Valley from “Sivrihisar passage” 1770 altitude” signboard at the entrance of Sivrihisar Village. The route ends in front of Güzelyurt Camii (Mosque) Church, can be reached from Aşağı District of Güzelyurt. During walking, the altitude in the valley is around 1400 Mt. This route is 4500 Mt and togother with church visits, it takes 4 hours. During you might visit Kömürlü and Kalburlu Churches, at the entrance of Güzelyurt Cafarlar and Koç Churhes and at the point you end trekking Camii (Mosque) and Sivişli Churches.

The long route named as Kızıl Church – Yuksek Church route and it starts from Kızıl (Red) Church, 1 Km out of Sivrihisar Village. There you can go up Sivrihisar Passage, 1770 altitude and then you can continue your route. At the end of the Valley, you may visit Kömürlü and Kalburlu Churches. There without directing yourself to Güzelyurt town center you continue Güzelyurt Pond.  After visiting the Pond, you may climb Yüksek Church (Analipsis Church) and after that you end your route. The long route is 8000 Mt and it takes 7 hours. The area where Yüksek Church is situated  is 4 Km far away from Güzelyurt town center.
