If you want to come to Cappadocia area of Turkey you can use Kayseri Erkilet Airport or Nevsehir Kapadokya Airport. Nevsehir kapadokya Airport is 25 km far from city center and Kayseri Erkilet Airport is 5 km far from city center.
Kayseri Airport is 70 km far from Goreme and 60 km far from Urgup. Nevsehir Airport is 40 km far from Goreme and 30 km far from Urgup.

If you will go to cappadocia from Istanbul don’t forget that there are two international airports in Istanbul, one of them is Ataturk Airport and the other one is Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Sabiha Gokcen airport is very far from central Istanbul but there is a shuttle service from Taksim square, Ataturk airport is not so far from central Istanbul.

What is the closest airport to a town ( which one ) that has a hotel serviced by Buterfly Ballons tours ?
Does any airline ( Turkish Airlines included ) offer direct flights from the U.S. ( which U.S. cities ) to the Cappadocia area or would I have to fly to Istanbul first and then change planes and/or flights and carriers ?

You can not find directly flight to Cappadocia airports from USA, Cappadocia flights is connected via Istanbul Airports. Nevsehir Cappadocia airport is nearest to Cappadocia center.
